  • Poor Long Term Reliability - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Jeep Grand Cherokee was a decent SUV for the first five years - but for the last three years its just been bleeding money. In the past 24 months, Ive spend over $7,000 keeping this thing running. New rear axle, right rear bearing, left rear bearing, power steering pump, fuel pump, battery, fuel filter, power window motors (2), two speakers, hood shocks, all new shocks, tires multiple times, 3 new oxygen sensors for the engine, two new engine (spark plug) coils, new fuel regulator, starter. The worst thing is the alignment. Because Jeep does not allow the camber to be adjusted, I have a slight pull to the left, and need to have the tires rotated at 3k miles and replaced often.

  • Dont Buy It !!!!!! - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought a 2000 JGC Laredo with all the options. MSRP $32,500. I have resurfaced the rotors twice and then replaced them, replaced fuel pump, 2 new batteries, I have a constant wind noise comming through the front passenger window. I also have an annoying popping noise that comes from the steering column everytime I put pressure on it. I wish I could get rid of this thing ASAP, only I am carrying $10,000 in negative equity due to the poor resale value!!!! Get a HONDA, ACURA, TOYOTA, or NISSAN!

  • Brake issues - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is the second and last Jeep I will ever purchase. I love Jeeps, but Chrysler does not love their customers, they have brake rotor issues. First brake job at 18,000 miles (warranty). Second at 28,000 "good will" warranty; we paid the labor! Third is now at 38,000 miles, they claim they dont have any brake problems. Im here to warn you, they do have brake problems and it is expensive! Nissan Pathfinder here I come.

  • Sorry I rushed into this purchase - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The V-6 is too sluggish getting on freeways, no pickup. Heater on floor level on either driver/passenger side virtually gives off no heat in very cold conditions. A very loud ticking noise at idle from under hood, dealer says it is normal, live with it! Chrysler advised me yesterday to get a second opinion at another dealer. Huge gas guzzler, costs $34-38 to fill up. Snow gets all over front seats from roof top when I open doors to start car. Uncomfortable radio controls in steering wheel causing aches in hands from repetative use. Driver rear view mirror doesnt heat up as quickly as the passenger mirror. .

I purchased mine brand new and have had nothing but problems..Im only at 18,000 miles and am ready to dump it. The steering is very poor, stability and the Tire Pressure Monitering sucks..I have a loaded one w/on board computer, etc..I must have been loaded when I bought this as Im very disappointed with its performance. The lights flash on and off ..I could go on forever...

LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH TWO DIFFERENT JEEPS. TOOK FIRST JEEP BACK 13 TIMES ON THE TRANSMISSON STARTED TO LEAK AT 23000 MILES. WAS TALKED INTO A TRADE HOPING THAT THE FIRST ONE WAS A LEMON,IT WAS WORSE THAN THE FIRST ONE THEY REPLACED THE BRAKES AND ROTOR AT 5000 MILES AND HAD THE SAME CLUNKING FROM THE TRANSMISSION AS WITH THE FIRST I HAD IT AT THE DEALER THE FIRST WEEK WITH FUEL PUMP PROBLEM AND THE RADIO ALSO WOULD NOT GET FM. I TOOK IT BACK A TOTAL OF 12 TIME IN LESS THAN 7 MONTHS. .

  • Dont even bother looking! - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Lets see, where do I begin. My 02 Laredo has the 6-cylinder engine, which fails to measure up to most other v-6s in its class. Ever since the day after I purchased this vehicle, there has been a pronounced brake shudder when I brake (which has been fixed twice), and the transmission likes to make a clunk noise when I stop at a stoplight. This is my second Jeep, and compared to my old 95 Laredo, this one sucks! After this year I will sell it for the measly trade-in value that its worth and buy a Toyota.

  • Should have kept my Audi - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Word to the wise do not ever buy one. I used to work for jeep and when I bought it wasnt sure if I was making the right choice. Then I realized that my Audi was not going to tow my snowmobiles and jetskis so I bought it thinking that since I work for jeep it will be easy for me to fix. Well, I will say I was thinking wrong. This car has broke down so many times I dont even know were to start. Starter rear diff, trans. The biggest of them all was when my wife was driving on the expressway and the seat frame snapped. When it snapped it fliped the seat back about 8 inches. Which almost caused a huge wreck.

  • My Lithia Lemon . - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

My initial impressions of my Jeep where quickly changed to those of regret and hopes that I was in some sort of bad dream but it really was a nightmare. My Jeep has 17000 miles on it , the brakes are in need of being replaced for the third time due to some sort of recall problems. The engine light has needed to be reset nine times, the gas tank has been replaced due to leaks, and as I write this the engine light is on again.. Chrysler said there are 400 things that can make the light come on but they cant find the problem but they refuse to replace or buyback this poor excuse of an SUV.. I would not recommend this vehicle to my worst enemy.
